Sylvia KEVORKIAN
soprano

After obtaining a Licence in the Humanities, Sylvia Kevorkian undertook voice lessons at the Paris Conservatory in the class of Isabelle Garcisanz (where she received first prize for vocal unanimity and also the UFAM’s first prize in 1996). She then continued to improve with Teresa Zylis-Garaet, followed by Masters classes in French melody under the supervision of Iréne Aïtof and Régine Crespin.
She played Micaela in the production of Carmen at the Saint-Céré Festival, the Mogador Theatre, and the Montansier Theatre in 1998, in addition to La Traviata under the direction of Philippe Bender in a staging by Alain Maratrat. In 1999, she sang the part of Leïla in the Pêcheurs de perles at the Opera of Nîmes. She played the role of Lisbeth in the global production of Marc Olivier Dupin’s Michael Kolhaas, Mendelssohn’s Elias with the Mulhouse Orchestra and Cyril Diedrich, as well as Phèdre in Rameau’s Hippolythe et Aricie in Nantes and Utrecht. In August 2003, Kevorkian played Puccini’s title role in Sœur Angelica at the Gigondas Festival, then performed a national show with Offenbach’s Docteur Ox (available on DVD). In June 2005, she made her debut at the Opera of Amsterdam in L’amour des trois oranges, staged by Laurent Pelly and directed by Stéphane Denève.
